Lenten Almsgiving
Almsgiving is a
major component of our Lenten observances.
At IHM, Christian Service Ministry coordinates a special service project
as part of our parish almsgiving. St. Ann, IHM Mission, Health Kits for
Child & Migrant Services
is in need of toiletries and personal hygiene items to give out to migrant
workers.
We will be collecting the items during the first 5 weeks of Lent.
Parishioners can also help assemble the kits. The schedule will be:
1st
Weekend of Lent: Regular size shampoo & combs
2nd Weekend of Lent:
Regular Size Toothpaste, Dental Floss, Toothbrushes
3rd Weekend of Lent:
Razors, Shaving Cream, Protective Goggles (for work)
4th weekend of Lent:
Wash cloths, Hand Towels, Small bar Soaps
5th Weekend of Lent:
Sunscreen, Insect Repellant

Service Giving
During Lent,
rather than give something up. Some people take on a charitable project.
Here are a few possibilities for short-term volunteer projects:
· CEC—Labeling
and/or stuffing envelopes; light cleaning.

Humanity—prepare & deliver lunches to building sites on Fridays or
Saturdays;
helping at the Restore; filing at office.

prayer of petition, thanksgiving or a prayer offering of your personal
intentions
on a Lenten Prayer Cross.
These crosses are located on the table in the narthex.

the Knights of Columbus serve a Pancake Breakfast.

First Sunday of every Month Food
Drive
Catholic Outreach
food bank is in need of canned fruits, vegetables, pinto beans,
tomatoes, peanut butter, tuna, canned meals, chili, spaghetti sauce and
hot and cold cereals.
Bring these food items the first Sunday of the month
and help fill a grocery cart in the narthex for Catholic Outreach.
Basic ingredients like diced tomatoes, pinto beans, spaghetti sauce,
pasta,
tuna fish, noodles, rice, chunky soups, peanut butter/jelly,
canned meals, chili, ravioli, spaghetti and meat balls, and cereal hot
or cold
are always needed.
